Aboagora Symposium starts the year with a top class project in collaboration with New Performance Turku Festival

Aboagora-symposium and New Performance Turku Festival, an international festival for performance and live art, start their collaboration with Floating Platforms -project, finding ways to collaborate between scientific and artistic practices.
Floating Platforms -project was awarded with a stipendium by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. The aim of the project is to find different ways to approach co-ordinated dialogue between arts and sciences. Six performance artists and six scientists from variety of disciplines around Finland and Europe will work in pairs and discuss a certain theme from their own perspectives and methods.
Floating Platforms will be conducted as a part of both events’ programmes. The audience will have an opportunity to follow these processes between arts and sciences throughout the course of the project. Floating Platforms expands the ways in which both parties have previously worked with – questions concerning the new methods of producing information, and availability and openness of these processes. These results will be available for the field of arts and sciences. The project consists of event sections, discussion panels called thinking platforms, and a publication that will be published in 2016.
New Performance Turku Festival is an annual festival celebrating the latest works by the leading artists in performance and performing arts, as well as a variety of art genres. The theme of the 2014 festival was , which was manifested with the audience, art works and researchers collaborating in the festival. This year the theme of expertise in performance art will continue with the Floating Platforms -project.
Aboagora-symposium 2015 will be conducted on August 11-13, and New Performance Turku Festival will be held from 28th of September to 4th of October. Both events will publish their international programme during the spring.
